If you’re familiar with the RAC TT Celebration you’ll be familiar with cars like the Jaguar E-type and AC Cobra. They’re often at the front, the E-type’s with incredible balance and the Cobras with serious straight-line grunt. But the RAC TT Celebration is not exclusive to Cobras or E-types – there’s a huge variety of machines on the grid, from Aston Martin DB4 GTs and Ferrari 250 SWBs to Chevrolet Corvettes and TVRs.
With so much variety, and with each car having its own strengths and weaknesses, you get some almighty tit-for-tat battles, and in 2019 that’s exactly what we got. On the one hand, a mighty AC Cobra driven by Bill Shephard. On the other, a lovely TVR Griffith driven by Mike Whitaker. Corner-after-corner the pair are side-by-side, with their respective co-drivers, motorsport and Goodwood legends Mike Jordan and Romain Dumas, biting their nails in the pits. Tense? You bet.
If you’re worried you won’t get to see old-school racing as close as this in 2020 then fear not, because you can see cars like these and so many more at Goodwood SpeedWeek in October. What is Goodwood SpeedWeek? You can read our handy SpeedWeek guide here.
