The Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy grid was a stunning tribute to Mr Goodwood’s famous GT exploits on its own but what completed it was the quality of racing. The top five on the grid were Jaguar E-types which made for some incredibly close battling.
Watch as WTCC Champion Rob Huff in his E-type ‘Cut 7’ fixed-head coupe gnashes at the heels of James Cottingham in his white number 36 roadster, lap-on-lap. Huff is pushing the car hard to try and find any edge, any gap, to eke out over leader Cottingham. Diving into apexes, brake discs nearly alight, flinging the car sideways. In the end, he couldn’t quite find the pace to reel in Cottingham, who was driving masterfully under such pressure. If only he’d had a few more laps.
