Following the announcement earlier this year that the 78th Members’ Meeting (originally planned for March 28th-29th), was to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we can confirm that the event is now provisionally set to take place on April 10th and 11th 2021.
With social distancing measures looking set to continue throughout the summer of 2020, it has become increasingly clear that the character of Goodwood’s Members’ Meeting would have to change drastically. Not wanting to compromise what makes the Members’ Meetings so special we have decided to delay the event and it is now set to take place in April 2021.
Importantly, the content of the event will be very much as it was originally conceived, with the same great line-up of races – including a two-part S.F. Edge Trophy for fire-breathing Edwardian leviathans, and an amazing collection of 60 Group 1 saloons contesting the Gerry Marshall Trophy over two heats and a final. The spectacular Rally Sprint competition, featuring cars from the 1970s to the present day, will also be taking place as planned.
The 78th Members’ Meeting was postponed following government advice due to the unfolding COVID-19 crisis and will now take its place as Goodwood’s season-opener in 2021. But don’t worry, all tickets and grandstand seats for the original event will be valid for the new dates, so you don’t need to do anything to guarantee your place at the 78th Members’ Meeting.
As the current pandemic continues to be an evolving situation Goodwood continues to evaluate options for the 2020 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, and Goodwood Revival. Any ticketholders unable to attend the rescheduled 78MM are invited to contact the Goodwood Ticket Office to discuss a variety of alternative option.
The Duke of Richmond said: “We were very sad to postpone the 78th Members’ Meeting in March this year, but were confident that it was the right thing to do to protect our visitors, competitors and staff. The 78th Members’ Meeting will be our best yet, and we are already working to see how we can add to the spectacular racing we had planned.
“I know that our many fans of the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and the Goodwood Revival are keen to know how and when their favourite motorsport events will be taking place, and we are exploring a range of options to host events again as soon as we can.”
