78MM to celebrate Tom Walkinshaw Racing IMSA and Group C Jaguars
The insane IMSA and Group C machines of Tom Walkinshaw Racing will be celebrated at the 78th Members’ Meeting, with everything from the XJR-6 to the XJR-16.
Alongside the other on-track power demo for the Lotus 72 and its competitors, up to 16 TWR Jaguars will scream round the Goodwood Motor Circuit on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2020.
TWR was founded in 1976 by, you guessed it, touring car racer Tom Walkinshaw. Initially competing with Mazdas and Rovers in various touring car championships, TWR’s relationship with Jaguar started with the XJS in the 1982 European Touring Car Championship.
That relationship grew and blossomed, with the creation of the XJR-6 for the World Sports Car Championship in 1985. From there TWR went on to win both the World Sports Car Championship teams’ and drivers’ title in 1987, and the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1988 and 1990.
The 1990 Le Mans victory was Jaguar’s last, with Martin Brundle, John Nielsen and price Cobb at the wheel of the Jaguar XJR-12.
We won’t give away the exact cars just yet, but expect to see a some of most iconic liveries, including Silk Cut, Bud Light and Castrol.
