David Coulthard set to race 300SL Gullwing at #76MM with IWC Schaffhausen

The 13-time Grand Prix winner last competed at Goodwood in the 2016 Revival when he shared an Austin A35 with Stephen Potts in the St Mary’s Trophy. He finished a combined 14^th across the two-part Pro-Am race. The runner-up in the 2001 Formula 1 World Championship competed in 246 Grands Prix for Williams, McLaren and Red Bull and retired from F1 after the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix. For the past 10 years, Coulthard has raced in the DTM and become a staple of British F1 viewers as a pundit on TV.  

IWC have been the Official Timing Partner of the Members’ Meeting since the 73^rd edition in 2015, they have also been an Official Partner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 team since 2013 and they continue to expand their involvement in historic motorsport with the launch of their new racing team.

The IWC Racing Team will be unveiled after the Formula 5000 speed demo on Saturday, March 17^th on the Brooklands Lawn by IWC Chief Executive Officer Christoph Grainger-Herr and David Coulthard. David will then take part in qualifying for the Salvadori Cup, the race which Coulthard will contest aboard IWC’s Mercedes-Benz 300SL. 

Eagle-eyed viewers will note that this will not be the first time that the 13-time Grand Prix winner has driven a 300SL at the Members’ Meeting, having taken the same car around in an IWC Track Moment last year at the 75^th Members’ Meeting.
