David Coulthard, former Williams, McLaren and Red Bull Formula 1 driver, will be racing at the 77th Members’ Meeting in just a few weeks time.

Coulthard will be piloting a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing in the Tony Gaze Trophy. The Gullwing, owned by watchmaker IWC, is not unfamiliar to Coulthard, having raced it in the Salvadori Cup at the 76th Members’ Meeting (he qualified in 15th place but managed to pull the car up to 9th position in a 22-car field) and driven it during demonstration laps at the 75th Members’ Meeting.

We’re excited, and not just because IWC are bringing a Gullwing, one of the prettiest and most iconic cars of all time. Coulthard is a very, very handy driver, one who never managed to clinch a world championship but could fight off the likes of Michael Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen for wins, of which he tallied up 13 (as well as 12 pole positions, 18 fastest laps, 62 podiums and 246 race starts).

Saturday and weekend tickets for the 77th Members’ Meeting are expected to sell out within the next few days, with Sunday tickets close behind. Tickets can be purchased by Members and Fellows of the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC). To find out about joining the GRRC Fellowship, click here
