As you have most likely read this week the government has announced a staged plan for Britain's exit from the current lockdown period. While this gives us great hope that we will see you, our beloved fans, again at Goodwood in 2021, it does mean that it would not be feasible to host the 78th Members’ Meeting in May. Instead this will now take place on 16th-17th October and all tickets currently held will be rolled over.
The current roadmap for exiting lockdown would not allow the Members’ Meeting to take place on its current May dates, and certainly not in the form that we all know and love. But we remain determined to hold the event in 2021 and ensure a truly spectacular time is had by all in October.
While the revived Members’ Meetings, which began in 2014, have always adopted a ‘keep calm and carry on’ approach to motorsport – even racing on in the face of the legendary ‘Beast from the East’ storm that curtailed other events in 2018 – the safety of our spectators and competitors is our highest priority. Therefore we will continue to work closely with Public Health England and the UK Government to ensure that any events are run in strict accordance with government guidelines. Plans for ensuring the safety of all at our events, whether behind the wheel, in the paddocks or watching from trackside, are well advanced to ensure that all three Goodwood motorsport events can go ahead this year.
Where necessary, we have reduced the number of people present on-site to allow for social distancing. This will be regularly reviewed and adjusted in line with the latest official guidance as event planning proceeds. Goodwood wants customers to be able to book with confidence and if it is deemed that an event cannot take place on advice from the UK Government due to the ever-changing pandemic, the ‘Ticket Guarantee’ means customers can transfer their ticket to the following year or receive a full refund.
Even though it will not open the motorsport season in 2021, the 78th Members’ Meeting will provide a spectacular coda to the year’s racing. With a brand new format for the Gerry Marshall Trophy, return of the incredible S.F. Edge Trophy, and some stunning demos this year’s Members’ Meeting will be the best ever. Just in autumn, rather than Spring.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and Goodwood Revival both remain on course to take place in July and September respectively, with all events following government guidelines to ensure the safety of all in attendance.
Members’ Meeting customers who can no longer attend the new date in October should contact Goodwood’s Ticket Office on 01243 755055.
Bonhams, which traditionally hosts a sale at the Goodwood Members Meeting, will conduct a spring auction on 19th May at its New Bond Street flagship saleroom, offering a broad spectrum of sports, competition and collectors’ motor cars.
