The Derek Bell Cup for Formula 3 screamers is a fantastic revisiting of the class that gave a great many stars their single-seater start. With 1,000CC bike engines they’re fun, fast and a lot to handle at their heady limits around the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
At the 79th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport, as at many of our meetings, Andrew Hibberd in his Brabham BT18 put in a star performance, in spite of a shaky start. The single-seater star went for a dive down into Madgwick past Steve Seaman, and progressed off into a convincing lead inching further ahead as the race wore on. Some fun midfield battles ensued but Hibberd enjoyed a six-second lead come the chequered flag, ahead of Jeremy Tims in the Chevron B15.
