The Pierpoint Cup is named after famous saloon car racer Roy Pierpoint, a driver who raced a variety of machinery from the 1940s through to the '60s. So why name a race for big V8 cars after him? Because Roy was perhaps best known for winning the British Saloon Car Championship in an Alan Mann Racing Ford Mustang, and then switching to race a Ford Falcon.
Therefore a fleet of Mustangs, Falcons, Galaxies and more V8 American muscle is the perfect celebration of a man who competed against the likes of Jack Brabham and co' in period. But what will a race like that look like?
Fortunately, we can tell you, as back in 2014 we held a similar race in honour of the late, great, Carroll Shelby at the Goodwood Revival – which could have been the best sounding race we've ever held. Through the field was the incredible array of American might that we will see again at 75MM – it's going to look awesome, and sound amazing.
