The Hills are alive with the sound of a Honda 3.5-litre V12, once commanded by Ayrton Senna in 1991 to the end of securing his third Formula 1 World Championship. Here at the Goodwood 78th Members’ Meeting, his nephew Bruno Senna, himself a former F1 gladiator, was on hand to work it like the mechanical instrument that it is.
Alone on track and without a safety car to hold him back, Bruno was free to explore the many higher octaves in the mega McLaren’s range and evoke memories of that incredible 1991 F1 season. Silence fell as the crowds rushed to hear Bruno and the MP4-6 preach the good word of internal combustion and our weekends are already pretty much made. It’s a cliched question at this point but is there really a better sound in all of motorsport history? It’s got to be top-five...
