Video: Glorious Group A weapons go for a thrash at 75MM

Today’s Group A demonstration was split into two batches, with the early the class’s early years where the variety of machinery was utterly baffling taking first dibs, while the big bad game-changing late-model monsters had the fore for the second session.

From big decadent BMW 635 CSi coupes, to the sly TWR Jags, to the ballistic yet hilarious MG Metro monstrous mongrels, each bring their own wonderful qualities. There’s no escaping the V12 music of the big jag, the 635 might be the the sexiest coupe of the weekend, and the MGs and the Volvos just look utterly hilarious and incongruous on track, liveried and winged up.

A tribe of savage circa-500bhp Sierra RS500s that in period were oh so dominant, joined the ever-iconic BMW E30 M3s and SD1s for the second session. Roberto Ravaglia lead the cavalcade in the stunning BMW M liveried E30 with which he has been reunited at 75MM, with the procession following on. Don’t think that because these aren’t races that they’re slow. See the video above for proof, as we see this the golden era of Group A played out at full pace on the Motor Circuit.

Which is your pick for a four hour stint at Spa?
