Unfortunately, coronavirus very much stopped play for the 78th Members’ Meeting this weekend. But ‘improvise, adapt and overcome’, became the motto of the Goodwood Road Racing team as we held an amazing Members’ Meeting Favourite Moments stream.
A full line-up of 26 races, six demonstrations and a couple of parades took place over Saturday and Sunday, with everything from aero-engined Edwardian beasts (pre-1923) to two-stroke 250cc and 350cc Grand Prix motorcycles (that raced between 1970 and 1984).
After a successful Saturday, we had high hopes for Sunday and our devoted fans didn’t disappoint, tuning in en masse as the action got underway. For almost nine hours you stuck with us, watching some of our favourite moments from the past five editions. It was hard to pick our favourite moments of our favourite moments, but we’ve managed to narrow it down to a handful.
Among them is the unfortunate spin of Gregor Fisken’s 1961 Jaguar E-type during the 76MM Moss Trophy, the epic eighties action from the 75MM’S Gerry Marshall Sprint, the blistering speed of the 74MM Group 5 Demo, in which Nick Padmore set a new outright lap record, and the equally impressive Ground effect F1 demo from the 74MM.
American muscle, Ferrari finesse and ‘60s protoype sportscars contributed to the online event to remember…
