This is an onboard from a Porsche 956 at Goodwood. Not words you expect to read very often. It will act here as proof that it has the biggest turbo woosh in the world.
Rainer Becker is a rather brilliant man. He owns, among other things, a Porsche 550 Spyder, a Kenwood-liveried Porsche 956 and a Porsche 910. The 910 he has brought to Goodwood many times and is often the car he uses as his daily driver.
At the 79th Goodwood Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport, our Porsche Group C demo contained Rainer’s marvellous 956 and he but a GoPro in it, just next to his head, to give us the impression of what it’s like to floor a Group C car down the Lavant Straight.
And let us tell you, just before you watch, that it looks like a great experience. The sound from the inside is brilliant, dominated by that massive turbo woosh with every gear change on the tiny H-pattern stick.
Rainer, keep being brilliant.
