These days when you think drifting and Goodwood, you think James Deane, Mad Mike Whiddett and Vaughn Gittin Jr. tearing up the Hill in high-tech 1,000PS monsters, spewing flames out with crazy liveries and crazier bodywork. You don’t necessarily think of near century-old Frazer Nash specials with chain drives and tyres thinner than your calfs. Yet seniority does nothing to get in the way of these cars getting properly squirrelly around the Goodwood for the A.F.P Fane Trophy at the 79th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport.
Watch in our video as we interview the amazing characters behind these cars, who keep them alive and race them to within an inch of their lives today. “The chain gang as we call ourselves, the Frazer Nash gang, we love drifting really,” the owner of the Piglet says. “It’s all about the drifting for me, let’s hope to see some big skids.”
He also goes through the intricacies of running a pre-war car, including having to manually pump the fuel into the carbs. Bathtubs on wheels you could say but we absolutely love them.
