The third season of W Series single-seater racing gets underway in just a few months, trotting further across the globe than ever before. Like last year, W Series will be following F1 for a total of eight Grand Prix weekends throughout the season, including the first-ever round in Asia. The Japanese round at Suzuka is just one of five different new venues that W Series will be visiting in 2022.
We open on the weekend of 6th-8th May, when both F1 and W Series will be having their very first Miami race weekends, hosted at the new Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens. From there it’s off to Barcelona for a first Spanish outing for W Series on 20th-22nd May. More familiar surroundings will be found next at Silverstone on 1st-3rd July. Then it’s off to France for the first time to Le Castellet on 22nd-24th July, and Budapest in Hungary a week later on 29th-31st July.
After the summer break, it’s off to Asia for 7th-9th October, when the action re-ups at Suzuka, Japan. Then it’s back across the Pacific to the USA and Austin, Texas, for the penultimate round on 21st-23rd October. The season will conclude on 28th-30th October with the first-ever W Series visit to Mexico and Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez in Mexico City.
“I am delighted that we will be returning to the Circuit of the Americas, Silverstone and Hungary in 2022, and excited to take W Series to Miami, Spain, France, Mexico and Japan for the first time,” said Catherine Bond Muir, Chief Executive Officer, W Series.
“The latter represents another landmark achievement for W Series as we make our debut in Asia. We have always stated our intention to make the series a truly global movement and this calendar is the next step towards achieving that.
“Our season-ending round at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez promises to be a very special weekend indeed and I can’t wait to see the 2022 W Series champion crowned in the iconic Foro Sol Stadium.”
