Formula 1 livery launch parties have been brought in-house in 2025 as F1 celebrates its 75th anniversary with F1 75, a special launch event where each team will reveal its new livery for this season.
Way back when (last season), livery launches ranged from social media showers of pictures and drivers’ facts, to full-on launch parties held at incredibly swanky locations where sponsors and press could rub shoulders with the drivers themselves. F1 75 brings order to proceedings, with teams pulling the covers off their new racers under one roof and in order of their position in last year's Constructors Championship; Kick Sauber Ferrari will open proceedings, with McLaren Mercedes, last year's winners, closing.
In front of the O2 Crowd – and the millions watching online – teams get a 7-minute segment to reveal their car with all 20 drivers and ten team bosses on stage, meaning you'll hear from the likes of Christian Horner, Toto Wolf and Fred Vasseur.
Thankfully, creative companies have been hired to ensure each launch is a "truly unique event", and although we've already seen Williams and McLaren's cars, tonight we'll for the first time see the liveries they'll be dressed in. This will also be our first opportunity to see new team-mates together, with only McLaren and Aston Martin going into 2025 without a driver change.
In penultimate place, Ferrari is guaranteed to overshadow McLaren's reveal, Sir Lewis Hamilton, now in Ferrari colours, will be the obvious star of the show. The seven-time World Champion has already whetted our appetites with an iconic picture of him at Modena standing in front of a Ferrari F40 like a mafioso boss. Mind you, it will still take a little getting used to after his 12-year relationship with Mercedes.
Along with the 'show', F1 will present an actual show presented by comedian Jack Whitehall, joined by F1 presenters Laura Winter, Ariana Bravo and Lawrence Barretto. Country music singer Kane Brown, multi-platinum recording artist, composer Brian Tyler's Are We Dreaming, and Take That are headline performers.
While F1 75 lets you see all the cars in the one place, some teams are also having separate launches. Ferrari will hold its own event on the 19th February, and Aston Martin and Mercedes have online launch events on the 23rd and 24th February, respectively.
Coverage of the event starts tonight at 17:30 GMT – although you won't see the cars until 20:00. You can watch the show live on YouTube because the 15,000 tickets available for the O2 event sold out immediately.
The 2025 Formula 1 season properly gets underway with pre-season testing in Bahrain on the 26th February, ahead of the opening round at Melbourne's Albert Park for the Australian Grand Prix from the 14th-16th March. Until then, we'll be eagerly waiting to see what drama is in store for us this year.
