The Ferrari SF-24 has been revealed ahead of the 2024 F1 season. Ferrari was the only team apart from Red Bull to win a race in 2023, and finished the year far closer to the dominant entity than it started. With a new livery, and some visible aerodynamic changes, will this car be the one to make a major step towards a genuine championship challenge?
From what we can see from the earlier renders, the nose looks to have expanded quite dramatically, while the sidepods look to have taken on some inspiration from the Red Bull, with the same dramatic undercut below the inlets that we’re beginning to see emerge on all of 2024’s contenders.
In terms of mechanicals, the engine cover has become more bulbous, with what is likely to be revised cooling, but everything around the suspension looks similar to last years’ car. The focus has been on developing a car that is "easy to drive and that reacts predictably, with as a starting point, the positive feeling the drivers had in the cockpit over the final few races of last season."
The livery has taken on some fresh elements, too. Yellow features far more heavily on the SF-24, leaning in on the success of Ferrari’s Hypercar programme no doubt. A pair of yellow and white stripes break up the majority red of this car to offer an interesting new look.
Drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. continue for the team in 2024, with Sainz preparing to compete in his final season for Ferrari before making way for Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
The new Ferrari SF-24 will undergo a shakedown before heading to Bahrain for pre-season testing from 21st-23rd February ahead of the 2024 F1 season getting underway on Saturday 2nd March.
