Haas reveals livery for new 2023 F1 challenger

Moneygram has come in to fill the vacant spot left behind by former its title sponsor, the Russian chemicals company UralKali. Last season, the VF-22 was revealed sporting a livery heavily influenced by the Russian flag – a nod to both its sponsor and Russian driver, Nikita Mazepin.

But following the cancellation of Mazepin’s contract and the reinstallation of Danish driver Kevin Magnussen, last year’s Haas lined up at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix with a different look.

The red, white and black scheme introduced at short notice was a bit more in tune with the colours Haas has come to make its own within Formula 1, and the VF-23 looks to be a further evolution of this theme. It’s a return to a Haas before Rich Energy and UralKali’s short-lived, but visually dominating sponsorships of the team. 

There’s plenty more black to be found on the VF-23 – this not being the final car we’ll see on the grid in March, we should add, but a model onto which the new livery has been placed. The side pods, airbox and rear wing go dark, but the car’s nose, halo and cockpit sides retain the white and red swishes commonly seen on the team’s cars of the past.

And with the ‘evolved’ look is an evolved line-up, too. Magnussen has been retained, but F1 will welcome back Germany’s Nico Hulkenberg to partner him, after a stint on the sidelines as a reserve driver for Racing Point through its transition to becoming Aston Martin.
