F1’s smash Netflix hit Drive to Survive will return for a fifth and sixth season, it has been confirmed.

While the fourth season has been met with at best mixed responses and at worst outright fury, over its four-year run the benefits to F1 have seemed to be largely positive, helping to bring in a new generation of fans.

Criticisms of the fourth seasons stemmed largely from weird editing and a lack of access to key drivers. But for 2022 and 2023 F1 has promised “unprecedented” access. Whether that means more teams and drivers will now be signed up or contracted to take part is yet to be seen.

Despite its numerous issues for regular F1 fans the fourth season of Drive to Survive was a smash hit, with F1 claiming its biggest audience to date and adding that it broke weekly top 10 figures in 56 different countries. Netflix does not release viewing figures.
