The best F1 pictures from FOS

An annual highlight at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is always the sight of Formula 1 cars screaming up the the Duke of Richmond’s driveway. We can take it for granted, but think about it. F1 cars, on a Sussex driveway, going hell for leather. Truly Bonkers.

This year was no different, and we welcomed a varied F1 field ranging from the historic – Dan Gurney's 1967 Eagle-Weslake T1G driven by Martin Brundle – to the contemporary – the 2016 F1 Championship winning Mercedes-Benz F1 W07 Hybrid, driven by Valteri Bottas and George Russell.

Taking top spot for purists was Karun Chandhok, ringing the neck out of the stunning Williams-BMW FW26. Driven by Juan-Pablo Montoya in period, the FW26’s naturally-aspirated V10 engine still sounded ungodly whenever Karun fired it past the house and up towards Molecomb, reminding us all how special those V10s were. And Remember, this car is a F1 record holder, after stamping its name against the all-time lap speed record around Monza.

If 50+ years of Formula One heritage wasn’t enough for you, we even had Goodwood regular and three-time Formula One World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart making his way up the hill with his two sons, Paul and Mark Stewart to blow the cobwebs off the iconic Tyrrell-Cosworths so synonymous with the Stewart name.

Whether you were here for the Cosworths, the turbos or the contemporary-era cars the whole F1 community pulled out all the stops to deliver yet another memorable weekend, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got instore for us in 2019.
