The Formula 1 cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard are always among the highlights of the entire event. You cannot help but embrace your inner child when you get to experience one of these machines flying up the Hill, the sight is one thing, but the sound… there’s nothing else like it.
And it doesn’t matter what era the car’s from either, your ears get the same treatment whether it’s a Cosworth DFV in the back of a Tyrrell 006 or a 3.5-litre V10 screaming away in the back of Sebastian Vettel’s Williams FW14B, and at the Festival of Speed there’s plenty of everything to keep things interesting.
It’s compilations like this that showcase what makes the event so special, it’s an opportunity to experience first hand some of the greatest racing cars the world has ever seen, and soak up all of those glorious sounds from years past.
F1 in particular has delivered so much variety since 1950. Engines of all shapes, sizes and configurations that, when brought together at the Festival of Speed, produce a choir the likes of which you just don’t get to experience all that often.
Headphones in for this one. We can’t wait to hear the inescapable sound of F1 engines roaring at Goodwood again this year.
