It's hard to find a car on the Brabham Trophy grid that's not a Lotus or a Cooper, and harder still to find one that's not powered by Coventry Climax engine. The podium bears that out with two Lotus-Climax 18s and a Cooper-Climax T51 occupying the top slots.
In the race itself, it was very much a two-horse race between the Lotus of Andrew Hibberd and the ex-Jim Clark Lotus of Sam Wilson. After a race-long battle, it was Hibberd who came out on top with Wilson just over a second behind. He could console himself on missing out on the top spot by having set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:24.42.
