Video: Lotus F1 racer cleared for takeoff

The words 'Glover Trophy' are almost a guarentee of good racing. The 1.5-litre F1 cars that made up the grand prix grid in the '60s battle hard, but fair, every year. This year that fight went down to the wire.

Here we find a Lotus 24 in the hands of historic racing great Martin Stretton racing in the Glover Trophy at Revival 2016. The car had led crossing the line on what looked to be the last lap, but, with a second remaining, the flag never came out, and Stretton ceded his lead to Nick Fennell's Lotus 25. Fighting hard to regain the lead the 24 found itself running wide at St Mary's, going on the grass and being sent airborne. When he lands, Stretton powers it across the grass and back on track. If there’s one thing you can count on, it's the natural inclination of a true racer to forget all about what they’re piloting and push as hard as they can for victory. Great stuff!
