The very fastest drivers are to be admired. But those that are that quick and can return that pace in whatever machines they try out? They’re the unicorns. It’s these Maestros that we celebrated at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
Few spread their talent further and wider than Mario Andretti. Indy 500? Check. Formula 1 world championship? Check. NASCAR? Check. World Sportscar Championship? Check. The man loved racing anything and everything and for as long as possible. His last Le Mans came 34 years after his first, 31 on from his 1969 Indy 500 victory and 22 years on from his 1978 F1 title… at the age of 60... If that doesn’t define Maestro, we don’t know what does.
