Most of the time there are only two places you’re likely to see a McLaren F1 GTR having its wheels driven off. The first is in racing footage of BPR series or FIA GT from the 1990s, the second is in a videogame. In 2014, however, there was somewhere else to see the GTR being thrashed, and that, as you might have guessed, was at Goodwood.
The 2014 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard Timed Shootout saw 1999 Indy 500 champion Kenny Bräck push the F1 GTR like it was a worth little more than pennies, a bold move considering any McLaren F1 would sell for something deep into the seven, if not eight, figures. Little wonder McLaren hired Kenny Bräck as a test driver in 2018.
