Raw V8 Formula 1 noise – what could be better this fine day? Well, some might say raw V10 F1 noise, but we’ve written about that already with trackside action from testing at Silverstone in 2005. So today it’s V8 o’clock, with some fantastic handheld footage from Melbourne, Australia. Brace yourself for some noise.
If you’re an F1 fan you’ll know the story of the 2009 season well enough by now. How Brawn GP was born out of the ashes of the Honda F1 team, how Jenson Button marched to championship glory in the BGP01 in a season neither he nor team-mate Rubens Barichello thought they’d be driving in. But back at the first round that year, in Melbourne, all of that was yet to come. There was a feeling of excitement and trepidation in the F1 world. Could Brawn really follow up on its pre-season Barcelona promise? Could Lewis Hamilton defend his title? Could Ferrari defend its constructors’ crown?
Watch and enjoy as cars from Brawn, Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota, BMW, Red Bull and more burst from the pitlane in practice starts and throw themselves across the exit kerb after the high-speed Turn 12. What a noise.
