If you fancy yourself a bit of a supercar spotter, you’ve got to have a bucket list of cars you really hope to see in the wild at some point. Ferrari F40, Pagani Zonda, Porsche Carrera GT, maybe even a Koenigsegg. But the holy grail, as it is in the entire supercar genre, is the McLaren F1. We can’t imagine the astonishment then, of seeing more than a dozen of them, of all flavours, together in northern Italy. This is what one of our favourite YouTubers, Bozzy, saw when he intercepted the McLaren F1 30th Anniversary Tour.
The variety of cars is spectacular, from short tail GTRs to XP road cars, a long tail GTR and even two Gulf-liveried racers. Such is the majesty of the F1, that a McLaren P1 was also in attendance… known as an ‘F1 30 support vehicle’. Also joining proceedings was a GMA T.50, verification prototype 2, no doubt there to show off to a number of these F1 owners who likely have a T.50 on order. Quite the way to say ‘don’t worry, it’s on track, you’ll get yours soon’.
Our pick of the bunch is probably ‘F1 Joy’, the Genesis Blue road car, that just looks like the perfect F1 with which to take on a tour of Europe. The scenes of this £150million convoy clogging up a small village in northern Italy are scarcely believable. Perfect Wednesday morning daydreaming fodder.
