Shut your eyes and imagine the sweet sound of a screaming V10. There’s nothing quite like it, right? Right. And to prove that, for today’s Elevenses, we’re taking you for an audio extravaganza in the form of this compilation of one of the most accomplished of all Ferraris: the F2002.
It dominated in period, winning 15 of the 2002 Formula 1 season’s 17 races, 11 in the hands of Michael Schumacher – who by July had already cemented his Drivers’ World Title – and four with Rubens Barrichello. It took 10 pole positions and nine one-two wins, always keeping at least one Scuderia driver on the podium in every single race. Powered by a 3.0-litre 90-degree ‘Tipo 051’ V10, the 2002 made 847PS at a screaming 17,800rpm and weighed just 600kg.
In short, it was, and still is, legendary. And this selection of clips, filmed between 2012-2018 at Spa-Francorchamps and the Hockenheimring is not to be missed.
Turn off distractions and enjoy seven minutes of screaming V10 heaven, as a pair of 2002s make their way furiously around two of Europe’s premier tracks. Listen to that glorious noise reverberating around the trackside foliage and tell us if you can really think straight afterwards. Because we certainly can’t…
Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day.
