Video: Watching F1 cars at Singapore gives a crazy sense of speed

For the most part, TV coverage of the Singapore Grand Prix focusses on the track, which makes sense, because we’re watching for the racing, not a city tour. But standing back from the circuit, behind the barriers, amongst other spectators and with a wider view of the surrounding buildings, it hammers home how ridiculously fast these V6-hybrid monsters are travelling on very normal roads. At one point we get to see the cars storm past from inside a building, which is even more strange because it’s so different to the normal perspective. Then, as the light fades, we get an idea of just how bright the spotlights are to fight the darkness than envelops the circuit come race day, and how all of the lights are rigged up from huge temporary structures.

We’re very glad to see Singapore back on the F1 calendar.
