If you missed our story on the 2020 Formula 1 calendar, you might not realise that the 2020 F1 season is a busy one, with a record 22 races throughout the year. So where can you watch Formula 1 in 2020? What time do Formula 1 races start? Here’s our handy guide to F1 coverage this year.
In the UK, TV coverage is split between Channel 4 and Sky Sports F1. Where Sky Sports F1 shows every Formula 1 practice session, qualifying session and race, Channel 4 only shows post-qualifying and post-race highlights, with the exception of the British Grand Prix which it broadcasts in full. On its own Sky Sports F1 costs £18 per month on top of a regular Sky package. However, you can buy a one-off Now TV Sky Sports Day Pass (9.99), Week Pass (£14.99), Month Pass (£33.99) or Mobile Month Pass (£5.99), all of which include Sky Sports F1.
In the USA, ESPN re-broadcasts Sky Sports F1’s coverage in full.
In the UK, both Channel 4 and Sky Sports F1 allow you to watch their broadcasts online. ESPN does the same in the USA.
Formula 1 itself has a stronger digital offering than ever before, however. The Formula 1 YouTube channel offers highlights of every practice session, qualifying session and race, the coverage itself taken from Sky Sports F1. It also produces ‘F1 Paddock Pass’, a roundup presented by Will Buxton pre-race weekend, post-qualifying and post-race, and a number of other videos across race weekends and throughout the rest of the year.
Formula 1 offers F1 TV, too. F1 TV allows you to watch the aforementioned highlights but also gives you access to an archive of past races, live telemetry, live tyre usage info, team radio and exclusive documentaries. ‘F1 History On-Demand’ is £19.99 per year and ‘Live Timing’ is £2.99 per month.
