Ferrari, Ford, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Mazda, Porsche, BMW… these are just a few of the brands that were racing at Sebring back in 1997. And it makes for an incredible field.
The field is led to the green flag by the mighty 333SP, and not just one of them, there’s three in stunning red at the front – and a couple more in other liveries a little further back,
Sure, the footage isn’t exactly stellar to today’s standards, but keep an eye out for the rather odd, converted Mazda prototype hanging around in the middle in the same livery you’ll remember from the mighty 787B.
What more is there to say other than that it’s an awesome watch with some nostalgic cars litered right through the field. And the racing is good too.
The late ‘90s were an odd time for prototype racing, a mixture of Ferraris that weren’t really Ferraris and other sportcsars cobbled together from bits of old programmes. But that doesn’t make it any less cool, if anything it possibly makes it even better. Oh, and check out the Hot Wheels liveried Oldsmobile…
