It's arguable that the 1970s was the era that gave us the most variety in Formula 1, and possibly some of it's greatest drivers and moments too. Our time at this weekend's Monaco Historic has convinced us so much of this fact that we'll have some more content explaining why coming soon.
But, that will come later. For now, enjoy a sumptuous gallery of all the action from that decade of flares and questionable colour choice. This selection of cars covers the entire period, a time which saw the transition from low- to high-airbox cars and then on to the mighty under-body suction of ground effect. We've even gone as far as to include a couple of cars from 1980 into the mix, just to fuel the debate on which year an era really begins...
