Pomp and circumstance, that's what the organising comittee at Historic Sportsar Racing describe the build up to the main race at each of their big events. And when you've got 54 classic Porsches all raring to race that's a very good phrase to use.
This is the grid preparing for the main celebration race of the 40th anniversary Mitty, a selection collected to celebrate Porsche as the featured marque of the event – one that comprises the biggest number of Porsches we at GRR have ever seen.
Rather than show you then slamming their way round Road Atlanta as we could, we've chosen to present you a more intimate look at what makes these Porsches – and in many ways HSR themselves – so special. Here are an unbeliveable amount of 911s from pre-1974, some beautiful 356s, both with and sans roofs, 956s and even a mighty flat-nosed 911.
We'll have the full story of The Mitty's sunshine celebration of Porsche and its racing history soon, but for now enjoy the build up to an all-American event celebrating a very German marque.
