It’s practice day at the 2018 Spa Classic which means there’s hustle and bustle about the paddocks and in the pit lane, as last minute testing and preparation takes place before the weekend’s racing begins. If mechanics aren’t buried in their engine bays, cars are out taking tentative laps of one of the greatest race circuits on Earth – Spa Francorchamps.
The variety of machinery in attendance knows virtually no equal (bar the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, perhaps) with everything from industrial Group C weapons of endurance war to the svelte panel-beaten alloy ‘60s GTs that we know so well. Our favourites from our brief wander through the paddocks include the gorgeous orange Lola T70 MkIII and the vicious lone yellow Ferrari 512S. Seeing these and more stretch their legs at Spa will surely be one of the great historic motorsport spectacles.
