It is hot in Daytona Beach at the moment, hot with a capital everything. Which means the cars are gleaming in the sun, we Englishmen are wilting in the heat and the haze is building.
Imagine then how hot it must be inside a Group C car out in that sunshine. Not only are they from an era before decent air conditioning and driver safety regulations, but they are also absolute brutes. So muscling a 962 round Daytona in 30-degree heat must be excruciating.
Fortunately for us these cars look absolutely at home in this sunshine. Along with a small mixture of other cars from the era it's been beautiful just watching them pound round the Daytona horseshoe – and we've not even been out to the banking yet.
