Sometimes, the phrase “nut and bolt restoration” is used somewhat liberally. Every other barn find, rediscovery and recovery is often described as such, whether all that’s left is a chassis plate and some blueprints, or a clean rolling chassis, body and drivetrain.
The Bill Thomas Cheetah featured in the video above was very much closer to the former. Rebuilt and restored over the past three years by pro restorers and preparers CCK Historic, the car was brought to them as “little more than a rusty old shell and a box of bits”.
The car is now ship shape and ready for 75MM, having been shaken down at Brands Hatch (as we can see) and at Goodwood last week. It's clearly had a lot of blood, sweat and tears lovingly poured into it to get it fighting fit, and ready for this new chapter in its life that begins in the Graham Hill Trophy at 75MM. We can’t wait to see (and hear) it in action!
