If the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet, today’s Elevenses will certainly wake you up. Climb aboard a 1963 Shelby Cobra 289 for the ride of your life as James Cottingham and Andrew Smith blast through France during the 2019 Tour Auto.
With Cottingham (no stranger to the pages of GRR) behind the wheel and Smith (Goodwood's former historic lap record holder) in the Navigator’s seat, the dynamic duo tear through narrow roads in the country-crossing rally, displaying a deft level of driving and direction skill. Taking on day one’s Special Stage in the direction of Les Gaillards, they take no prisoners, with Cottingham barely rolling off the accelerator in this whole six-minute clip.
Taking place between 29th April and 5th May 2019, the Tour Auto saw hundreds of classics set off from Grand Palais (Paris) in the direction of Deauville. Ultimately, Cottingham and Smith finished in 49th position.
Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day. Watch the last video: Delve deep into the history of Goodwood.
