If you’re looking for eight minutes of vintage motorsport fury, we’ve got just the video: an onboard video from a BMW M1 Procar, jostling for position with a DeTomaso Pantera and a Corvette. Who needs caffeine to kickstart the day when you’ve got noise like this?
Filmed from the cockpit of Hans Wagner’s BMW M1 Procar, it’s an epic tussle between the Germans, Italians and Americans – in the engineering stakes, of course.
The three are competing at the “German Revival Racing Championship” (not to be confused with the Goodwood Revival, of course) at the Nürburgring all the way back in 2012. Not that it matters, as the cars themselves date from all the way back in the 1970s, and as such the racing is timeless.
Watch as Wagner wrestles the German masterpiece around the ‘Ring’s consequential curves, its screaming straight-six soundtrack drowning out pretty much everything else. The straight-six Procar fights valiantly against the eight-cylinder brute from Detroit and the similarly shouty V8 Pantera, before, in the second round, the Zakspeed Ford Turbo Capri flies by. We say again: who needs caffeine?
