Video: Ferrari 333 SP on board race start
Has losing places ever looked or sounded quite so good? Here we ride on a Ferrari 333 SP, already this is sounding amazing, as it races at the Monza Historic, even better, and while Michel Lecourt may not be going forward through the pack, the cars passing him are astonishing.
The 333 SP seems to have it all sewn up through the first chicane at Monza, the Variante Rettifilo, having ducked up the inside of Shaun Lynn’s stunning Bentley Speed 8, but he’s comprehensively outgunned on the run to the Curva Grande by a screaming Aston Martin DBR9. All seems to settle down through the Variante della Roggia, and both Lesmo corners, but as we enter the Ascari chicane here comes our old friend Florent Moulin and his mighty Saleen S7.
Finally we scream down Monza’s back straight and through the Parabolica unharmed only to find the aforementioned Lynn on our inside on exit. The Speed 8 is coming through and there’s nothing to stop it. And that completes a quite astonishing lap. Sometimes going backwards affords you an even better view, and you still get to listen to that mighty V12.
