A day can start badly in a number of ways. You could drop your phone on your face turning the alarm off in the morning, or the handle of your mug could break off, sending hot tea onto your feet and floor. Today is not one of those days. Today will be a good day because it’s starting with a racing Ferrari Daytona screaming at the top of its voice.
Welcome to the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Competizione, a stripped out, beefed up GT racing versions of the road-going Daytona, complete with a dog-leg five-speed manual gearbox and a 4.4-litre V12. The word ‘glorious’ doesn’t do it justice.
The Competizione is not as pretty as the road car, but do you really care? Pounding around Imola it sounds and looks the part, and with onboard footage to boot, there’s really not much more we could wish for. It’s an elegant car, too – just look at the quilted headlining. You certainly don’t get that in a 488 Challenge Evo.
