Small car, big heart. That’s what this race-spec Fiat 126 is referred to as by the people who watch it work. And what a motoring marvel it is, as it flicks its way down country lanes wagging its tail hither and twain.
If you’re watching thinking, hold on, I swear you showed us some Fiat 126 rally cars recently then well done, you’ve been paying attention. In fact, we shared a video of the tiny Italian cars rallying only a couple of weeks ago. But, you all loved it so much, that we thought we’d share more – and more importantly we’re slightly obsessed with them now.
This little Fiat is very clearly quite different to the standard car it once was. Very hard coilover suspension is in blatant evidence every time it cocks a front wheel as it bobs sideways round a roundabout. There’s a cage and obviously some exhaust work, though we’re not sure how much engine work. It has the sound of a rally car, even the spitting limiter, but the revs seem half of what you might get out of an Escort or the like. Either way, this Fiat has onlookers ear-to-ear smiling wherever it goes, hanging the rear out, climbing verges, parping away – the perfect antidote to the sterility of a Monday afternoon. You’re all so very welcome.
