There can’t be too many ways to have more aural fun than to drive a 427 Corvette… without a roof.
At the end of the day isn’t that big bit of metal above you just a bit of extra weight when you’re racing? All it’s really doing is keeping the wind off your helmet and reducing how much you can hear that wonderful V8.
That’s the experience Ray Evernham has opted for in his Corvette at Historic Sportscar Racing’s The Mitty event at Road Atlanta. Letting all that noise come direct to his helmet. And what a glorious place to enjoy such sounds. Road Atlanta is somewhere we visited in 2016 and left a lasting impression. It’s a lithe circuit that snakes its way up and down undulating terrain through a forest that is, allegedly, in some cases home to snakes and all sorts.
Couple that to a field full of other classics and this is just under four minutes of heaven.
