With lockdown round two just getting started, we can’t blame you for already feeling a little fatigued… But we can help alleviate that boredom, with two of the most exciting Hill runs the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard has ever seen.
Watch from the sidelines as first Monte Carlo winner Jean Ragnotti’s diminutive Renault R5 Maxi Turbo makes its way up the 1.16 miles of tarmac, screaming, spinning and sliding along the way. Performing some of FOS’s fastest pirouettes, it is piloted with the accuracy and sheer fearlessness that only a true racer could possess. We wonder who it could possibly be behind the wheel…
Next up in this two-car compilation is a far more modern offering – the Citroen WRC DS3 of Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen – which cuts straight to the chase with an aurally intense run up the hill. Negating donuts for a straight line to the finish, the DS3 set a blistering time at the 2013 event.
So there, in less than three minutes, your spirits (and heartrate) have undoubtedly lifted. Now, you just have to choose your side – modern or classic?
