There probably isn’t anyone who knows Sebring quite as well as Jim Pace knew it. The Daytona 24 and Sebring 12 Hour winner lapped the Florida circuit so many times in modern and historic cars that it’s pretty hard to imagine anyone else with more experience.
Sadly we lost Jim in November 2020 to Covid-19 at the age of just 59, but thanks to our friends at Historic Sportscar Racing there’s plenty of footage to remember the man from Mississippi by.
In this case, as so often, he can be found in a 3.0-litre Porsche 911 getting a few practice laps in – and showing some more modern cars exactly which way to go in the process.
Jim’s car control in classic racers was always a joy to watch and the Porsche’s flat-six is a joy to hear as it screams its way over the bumps and cracks of Sebring.
