We’re a big fan of the Mini. We love watching them swarm through Madgwick at the Revival, and we thoroughly enjoyed Nick Swift hurl one sideways through the first corner at the 2021 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Where we never expected to see a Mini is Bathurst. Mini meets Mount Panorama.
If you’re wondering whether Bathurst is a tad too much for a dinky Cooper S, well, you’re not wrong. Goodwood Motor Circuit sits a mere 34 meters above sea level, the Mount Panorama track is 870 meters above sea level. That altidude is more than likely proving to be a power drain for this lovely little car. But that doesn’t look to bother the driver, Steven Weymouth-Wilson, who, like Swift, doesn’t mind applying a little opposite lock and keeping his right foot pinned on the throttle. Sadly it isn’t a full lap, but it’s mighty fun all the same.
