Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer is no more splendiferous than in LM spec, with its 470 horsepower, fuel-injected flat-12, elongated tail and Pininfarina bodywork.
Just 25 LMs were built between 1979 and 1982, and any example today can command more than a small crowd. So, it’s no surprise that YouTube channel Belgian-Motorsport has dedicated a four-and-a-half-minute video to no.16, taking part in a Modena Trackday at Belgium’s Circuit Zolder back in June.
Not just a pretty face, in its day the BB LM was a serious endurance challenger, counting a fifth overall and first in the GTX class at the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans among its best finishes.
Nowadays it’s an icon. Watch and listen as this fine specimen warms up its 4,942cc powertrain in the pits before taking to the track to stretch its legs. What a noise.
