A sun-soaked Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and a howling Jaguar XJR-12 – what’s not to like?
The car you see here is the very XJR-12 that Derek Warwick, John Nielsen and Andy Wallace drove to fourth place in the 1991 Le Mans 24, behind two other XJR-12s that took third and second place.
Despite being almost 30-years-old the XJR-12 is still regularly driven in anger, seen here with Alex Müller at the wheel at the Espíritu de Montjuïc, which took place over the first weekend of April this year. The noise of the XJR-12’s 7.4-litre V12 is quite incredible.
Sadly Müller and teammate Ivan Vercoutere failed to classify in the event’s Sunday Group C Race 2. They did, however, enter Saturday’s Race 1 in a 1989 XJR11 and bagged themselves a third place trophy. As weekends go, they still had quite a good one.
