Known affectionately as ‘The Junkyard Dog’, the Old Yeller II Buick Special was built in 1959 at the renowned Hollywood Motors chop shop owned by sports car racers Max and Ina Balchowsky.
After success in a variety of other highly modified machines (including the Buick-powered Morgensen Special Old Yeller I), in 1959 the Balchowskys turned their attention to the major International Sports Car Races in the potent Old YellerII.
By 1960, the eye-catching car had seen action in the hands of countless of legendary drivers, including Carroll Shelby and Dan Gurney. It went on to break a number of track records, before retiring in 1974.
Following an extensive period stationary, Old Yeller found itself in the hands of vintage car guru Ernie Nagamatsu, who restored it to the most period correct configuration. Since the early 1990s, Nagamatsu has raced the striking yellow car in historic races around the globe.
