Soon there will be a Ford Mustang racing at Le Mans once again, as Ford prepares the GT3 version of its latest-generation Pony. If you’re feeling impatient (like us), though, they’ve been there plenty of times before, with past variants continuing to return for the Le Mans classic. A ride onboard with such a car is what we have for your consideration today.
The car is a 1998 Ford Mustang Cobra TA GT1, the low, wide V8 monster of a type we’ve seen thunder up the Hill a few times recently at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. We see it reach a fairly potent 170mph between the chicanes on the Mulsanne Straight, as well as its pursuit of newer GT2 cars in the Ferrari F430 and Chevrolet Corvette. It looks like enormous fun, that’s for sure.
