At times like this, nobody can blame you for seeking a little pick-me-up. And while some people dive for the chocolate cupboard, others the wine rack, we head for YouTube, in search of racing videos of the finest vintage. And we think we’ve found a gem, in the form of this 1964 289 Cobra onboard from last November’s Classic 24 Hours of Daytona.
Hop into the cockpit with this unidentified driver and join him for a screaming lap or so of our favourite stateside circuit. Watch as he jostles with equally old racing cars (there’s a Daytona Coupe and a Mercedes 300SL in there), each driver pushing their motor to the max. Marvel at the blistering speeds our pilot reaches on the banked Daytona curves, the pits flying by in a blur, the car vibrating with the velocity.
This is authentic retro racing, and exactly what we needed to brighten a dull Thursday morning.
